The village of Apollona took its name from the Temple of God “Apollo”, who was once the patron saint of the island of Rhodes and the fine arts. The village has a population of about a thousand inhabitants, rich vegetation, with more than seventeen thousand acres of land. As a result, the majority of the residents are engaged with the cultivation of olive trees. The cathedral of the village is decorated with magnificent frescoes from the lives of several saints and a pebble courtyard. The church celebrates the grace of the Holy Cross on September 14, with one of the largest festivals on the island. The village also has a football, basketball, volleyball and tennis court.
